Disaster Relief Team

Galveston - Southern Baptist Relief fixed hundreds of thousands of meals each day and remains on scene to assist in a variety of ways.

Our Purpose

In times of disaster, such as a Hurricane, to bring....

  • Help by ministering to physical needs through removing downed trees from homes, securing tarps over roofs and doing what it takes to make a dwelling safe.
  • Healing by ministering to emotional needs through spending time with, listening to and caring for disaster survivors.
  • Hope by  ministering to spiritual needs through sharing the gospel by our example, words and literature.

Preparedness before and rebuilding after...

  •  To serve our area with hurricane preparation and general maintenance year round.
  •  To help rebuild the homes of uninsured and under-insured home owners.

How it Works
As part of the Manatee Southern Baptist Disaster Relief Unit, o
ur mission in time of disaster is to respond immediately to the call and direction from our Florida Baptist Disaster Relief command center. After a disaster whether it be a hurricane , tornado, or similar catastrophe, state command centers are set up in affected areas. They assess the damage and call out appropriate units (recovery, feeding, child care etc.). We are one of about 25 recovery units in Florida. Our team is well equipped with two recovery and rebuild units containing chain saws, various tree clearing equipment  and rebuild tools.

We have a vision for the Manatee SBC Unit's equipment to be used year round. Trained church members are invited to use the units trailers and equipment to prepare properties for hurricane season as well as conduct a maintenance ministry to their communities and members.
